Apache Tears is a spherical form of obsidian that is found in the American Southwest. The name refers to an Apache legend where warriors rode their horses off a mountain after being defeated by the US Cavalry instead of being killed by the US. It is said that the tears of their family members who they died protecting turned into small droplets of obsidian. To this day the stone allows one to come to peace with grief, learning to forgive oneself and others. It’s associated with both the root and heart chakras and is a wonderful crystal for healing intense emotional wounds.
